  • Discuss your perspective of yourself as a “cosmopolitan” or a “local” in your organization. Please provide an example that shows why you chose a particular perspective.
  • In what ways do you contribute to the success of the groups of which you are a member?
  • How might your behavior be mistaken by others as not being helpful to the group’s efforts?

Part 5- 400 words

  • Discuss the implications for using the Johari Window and feedback in your communal life both in organizations and elsewhere. Please provide one or more specific examples that show your critical thinking about this topic.

Part 6 – no length

Prepare and submit an annotated bibliography that includes the following:

  • At least 15 academic sources related to the topic that you have discussed in your Phase 1 Proposal for your final paper. The sources must come from:

This Discussion Board focuses on organizations and the work that managers do to facilitate effective organizational life in an environment where people are quite mature in many ways.

Drawing comparisons between the topics in the assigned reading and your chosen chapter, focus your discussion on the following:

  • What is the challenge that managers face in dealing with the incongruence between the needs of mature individuals and an organization that often treats its employees as being immature and needing a lot of structure and rules?
  • To what extent should the formal organization impose itself upon the needs of its mature employees?

Power is seen by many as a dirty word, and yet, leaders are not able to accomplish anything of great substance without the effective use of power. Many people equate leadership with power.
Referring to your reading, focus your discussion on the following:

  • How do you, as a leader, use your power to get things done?
  • How do you see other leaders using their power?

Watch a video titled, “Power: Why Some People Have It and Others Don’t,” featuring Professor Jeffrey Pfeffer discussing the rules of behavior in the corporate world. His focus is on developing political skills that will lead to personal and organizational success.

Given Pfeffer’s focus on how to develop political skills and to learn from all kinds of people, focus your discussion on the following:

  • What rule of behavior stood out to you as being most useful in your current or desired future position?
  • How might you begin to implement this rule in your personal or professional relationships in the near future?

Part 12- 400 words

This discussion will address power and influence in organizations. James MacGregor Burns says

not all human influences are necessarily coercive and exploitative … the most powerful influences consist of deeply human relationships in which two or more persons engage with one another…To understand the nature of leadership requires understanding of the essence of power, for leadership is a special form of power. (Burns, 2010)

  • How might you begin to develop this crucial management skill in your personal or professional managerial roles in the near future?

  • The role of managers in ensuring organizational effectiveness

Complete the final draft of your paper based on your chosen topic.

Write a theoretical paper utilizing your work and feedback from the preceding phases of the course.

The final submission must address the following:

  • Discuss your awareness of the chosen topic, including the following:
