. Can you think of other products or brands that rely on ethically questionable business practices? Do you think consumers are turned off by their track record or are they largely indifferent to it? Explain.
The Coca-Cola Company
The Coca-Cola Company has one of the worst ratings on the ethical consumer website. In politics, environment, animals, and people, their brand seems to rely on some questionable business practices. According to Ethical Consumer, the International Union of Food (IUF), severed it’s 15-year partnership accusing The Coca-Cola Company of attacking union leaders and intimidation towards their members with disciplinary actions. They were also labeled by Greenpeace and Break Free from Plastic as the world’s biggest plastic polluter in 2019. I believe some consumers are turned off by their environmental inconsistencies and them using child labor in Mexico. However, many consumers are indifferent because they continue to buy the company’s products and brand. Most consumers try to be ethical and try to take the moral high road when it comes to the products or brand they buy and use, but, they/we soon forget why we felt turned off or indifferent to begin with.
